Sarah Gad is a renowned Criminal Defense and Civil Rights Attorney based in Minneapolis, MN, where she founded Gad & Gad Law Offices LLP. Significant personal and professional challenges shaped her journey to becoming an attorney. Originally intent on a career in medicine, Gad's life took a drastic turn following a severe car accident that led to an opioid addiction stemming from prescribed medication for her injuries. This addiction derailed her initial plans, resulting in felony charges and incarceration, where she was denied addiction treatment. The representation she received during her battle against Cook County inspired her to pursue a career in law, shifting her focus from medicine to justice.

Determined to make a difference, Gad channels her experiences into her legal practice, specializing in criminal defense and immigration law. She began her academic career at the University of Minnesota, excelling in microbiology and chemistry with a 3.94 GPA. However, her aspirations took an unexpected turn following her accident in 2012 and the subsequent legal challenges she faced.

After her incarceration, she was appointed Director of Forensics at Kathleen T. Zellner & Associates Law Offices. In this role, she oversaw scientific testing for post-conviction cases, playing a key role in several high-profile cases. These experiences were pivotal, prompting her to enroll at the University of Chicago Law School. She financed her education with her settlement proceeds, actively engaged in the ACLU Chicago Law Chapter, and served on the Criminal Law Society and Defenders boards, where she received the University’s Humanitarian Award in 2019.

While in law school, she also clerked at the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic, developing legal strategies for indigent clients. This solidified her passion for criminal defense, leading to the founding of Gad & Gad Law Offices in 2022. Since being admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 2023, she has quickly distinguished herself in the legal community, including winning a significant murder trial in Hennepin County in the summer of 2023.

Sarah Gad also founded Addicted 2 Action (A2A) in 2018, advocating for better addiction treatment for incarcerated individuals. This initiative seeks to promote medication-assisted treatment and reform policies in correctional facilities.
